Disha Darshan Shah Patwa: The Writer Who Refused to Let Her Dreams Fade

From loneliness and responsibilities to national and international recognition, Disha Darshan Shah Patwa’s journey is a powerful story of courage, persistence, and the decision to finally choose her own dream.

When a Forgotten Dream Found Its Voice

Some dreams arrive in childhood and quietly remain in the heart, even when life forces us to forget them. For Disha Darshan Shah Patwa, becoming a writer was one such dream.

Today, she is a Writer and Author from Maharashtra, with five years of experience in writing. She has worked with platforms such as Pocket FM and Pratilipi, and has established herself as an author and co-author associated with Ranjana Book, Blue Cloud Publisher, and Blue Star Publisher.

Her journey, however, was not built overnight. It was shaped by loneliness, responsibilities, criticism, failures, and countless hours of hard work. Above all, it was shaped by the belief that a dream should never be abandoned simply because others do not believe in it.

A Dream Hidden Behind Responsibilities

Disha holds a B.Com qualification. Like many people, she once had dreams that seemed simple but gradually became difficult to pursue as responsibilities increased.

The loss of her mother left a deep emptiness in her life. Although there were people around her, she often felt lonely from within. With household responsibilities growing alongside age, she found herself putting her own dreams aside for the sake of her loved ones.

Yet somewhere inside her, the dream of becoming a writer remained alive.

During her college days, she watched an interview of Shailesh Lodha, popularly known for his association with Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. His words about leaving the comfort zone, focusing on one's goal, and continuing to work despite delays in success left a lasting impression on her.

That inspiration eventually became the spark that brought her forgotten dream back to life.

Choosing Herself Again

When Disha shared her dream of becoming a writer with friends, she faced discouragement. Some told her that writing did not offer a secure career and advised her to choose something else.

For a time, she listened.

But one day, sitting alone and thinking about the dreams she had sacrificed, she realised something important: she had spent so much of her life fulfilling responsibilities for others that she had stopped doing something for herself.

That realisation became a turning point.

She decided that she would pursue writing, regardless of her age, circumstances, or what people might say.

Her father became her strongest source of encouragement. Whenever fear or criticism made her doubt herself, he reminded her not to worry about people laughing at her efforts. His support gave her the courage to take the first step.

From First Story to a New Beginning

Disha began writing stories and eventually discovered Pratilipi, where she started publishing her work.

Her stories received appreciation from readers, giving her confidence that the dream she had once considered impossible could actually become a career.

Her work on Pratilipi opened another important door—the opportunity to work with Pocket FM.

For Disha, this was more than a professional opportunity. It was the fulfilment of a dream.

However, success did not come without setbacks.

One of her projects initially performed well but later had to be ended. Two more projects also failed. Instead of considering these failures as the end of her journey, Disha treated them as lessons.

She started again.

The Project That Changed Everything

Refusing to give up, Disha created another project for Pocket FM and continued working with determination.

This time, her efforts produced remarkable results. The project became a major success and crossed 10 lakh views.

For Disha, this achievement was proof that failure is not the opposite of success—it can become part of the road leading to it.

Her belief in focusing on one's actions rather than constantly worrying about the result, inspired by the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita, became an important part of her outlook.

She continued to write, learn, experiment, and move forward.

From Writer to Author and Co-Author

As her journey progressed, Disha's identity expanded beyond being a writer. She became an Author and Co-Author, working with publishing organisations including Ranjana Book, Blue Cloud Publisher, and Blue Star Publisher.

Her writing has also received recognition in different formats and platforms. She has worked with Pratilipi and Pocket FM, while her articles have reached magazine audiences, including a recent feature in a Dubai magazine.

She has also received recognition for a comedy article and for her contribution connected with International Women's Day.

Her writing journey continues to expand toward larger projects, including audio storytelling and opportunities connected with production houses.

A Journey of Awards and Recognition

Disha's dedication has brought her a growing list of national and international recognitions.

Among the honours associated with her journey are the Youth Icon Award, Bharat Gaurav Award, Indian Pride Award, National Writer Award, International Author Award, Padmashri Global Award, Orient Book of World Record, World Excellence Book of Record, and Global Icon Award.

She has also received Excellence Award associated with the Book of World Record recognition covering 50 countries, along with recognitions such as Bharat Shikhar, Bharat Kirti Ratna Award, and Indian Star of the Year.

Her recognition through Forever Star of World Record became another memorable moment in her journey.

Yet among all these honours, the Padmashri Global Award holds a particularly emotional place in her heart.

When she received it, she remembered her mother, who had dreamed of seeing her daughter receive a major honour. For Disha, that recognition was therefore not simply an award—it was a deeply personal moment connected to a dream her mother once carried for her.

Success Without Losing Humility

One of the compliments Disha values most comes from her readers.

People have told her that despite receiving numerous awards and achieving recognition, she has remained the same person.

For her, this matters deeply.

She believes that whatever she has achieved has been possible because of the love and support she received from the people who stood beside her. She gives special credit to her father and husband, whose support helped her continue moving forward.

She also feels that the arrival of her daughter brought a new chapter into her life. With her daughter now four months old, Disha continues to work and pursue her writing ambitions.

She sees motherhood not as a reason to stop dreaming, but as another source of strength.

A Message to Today's Youth

Disha's journey carries a simple message for young people: do not stop trying simply because success has not arrived today.

She knows what it feels like to hear people question a dream. She knows what failure feels like. She knows what it means to start again when others have already decided that you cannot succeed.

But she also knows what happens when a person refuses to give up.

The people who once laugh at an unfinished dream may eventually be the same people who applaud its success.

That is why Disha believes that the most important thing is to keep working honestly and patiently toward one's goal.

A Dream That Continues to Fly

From a young woman who once thought her dreams had disappeared behind responsibilities to a recognised writer, author and co-author, Disha Darshan Shah Patwa has travelled a remarkable distance.

Her story is not simply about awards, publications, views, or professional opportunities. It is about finding herself again after years of putting herself second.

Today, she looks toward a future where more of her stories can reach readers and audiences through books, audio storytelling, films, and larger creative projects.

Her journey is still continuing.

And perhaps that is the most beautiful part of her story—she did not wait for the perfect time to begin. She began when life was already complicated, when people doubted her, when failures came, and when fear told her to stop.

She chose to keep writing.

Disha Darshan Shah Patwa's story reminds us that dreams may be delayed by life, but they do not have to die. Sometimes, all a dream needs is one brave decision: to try again.
