For 24 years, she has been an integral part of Anjuman-I-Islam’s Ahmed Peermohamed English High School, Pune. She joined the institution in June 2002 as a Pre-primary teacher, at a time when the school had only Pre-primary and Primary I and II Standards.
Today, she stands as the Headmistress of the school, a position she has held since 2014.
Her journey from a timid and untried teacher to an experienced school leader is not merely a story of promotions. It is a story of personal transformation, institutional growth and a deep bond with education.

She has received the FAZAL PEERMOHAMED EXCELLENCE AWARD, including a certificate and silver coin over the last six years.
In 2026, she was felicitated as a Visionary School Leader and awarded a trophy by EDU DRONE – WE CONNECT at the Principal’s Symposium & Awards 2026, organised on the occasion of its 6th Anniversary on 2 August 2026 at the Sheraton Grand Hotel, Bund Garden Road, Pune.
This recognition acknowledged her leadership and contribution as a school head.

Her contribution has also taken her beyond the immediate boundaries of her school.
On 30 November 2025, Mrs. Asma Afzal Khan was invited as the Grandmaster at The Teacher’s Got Talent programme organised by EDU DRONE – WE CONNECT at the Radisson
Hotel, , Pune.
A trophy was received for the school as a token of appreciation.
On 13 July 2024, she was invited as a Guest at the EDU-BIZZ LEADERSHIP Summit & Awards at Symbiosis Ishanya Bhawan, Viman Nagar, Pune.
On 9 September 2023, she was invited as the Guest of Honour for the Scholarship Award Function of Lila Poonawalla Foundation. She was also presented with a memento in appreciation of her school's performance.

The Lokmat Achievers Award
One of the significant milestones in her journey came on 29 July 2023, when Mrs. Asma Afzal Khan received the Lokmat Achievers Award at The Hyatt Regency, Nagar Road, Pune.
The award recognised stellar contributions to society during a debilitating crisis and honoured outstanding individuals working in fields including education, culture, art, literature and social work.

On 8 September 2017, she was felicitated by the Muslim Welfare Education Society at Savitribai Phule Smarak, Pune, on the occasion of Teacher's Day.
She was among 42 teachers from different schools in Pune who were felicitated with a trophy and certificate as an Ideal Teacher.
In September 2017, she was also felicitated at the Lions Club Symposium, North Bombay, for successfully implementing Skills for Adolescence and Skills for Growing in her school. She received a trophy and certificate.

For Mrs. Asma Afzal Khan, leadership has also meant continuing to learn.
She was felicitated by the India School Leadership Institute for excellent performance in its training programme, receiving a certificate and a table clock.
